Middle school is where students take their learning to the next level. With a focus on critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration, our curriculum prepares students for high school and beyond. Teachers have creative ways to teach lessons through hands-on projects and interactive activities.

Faith remains central to the middle school experience at Our Lady of Lourdes.. Students participate in daily prayer, weekly Mass and several service opportunities that help them live out the values of empathy, kindness and respect.

Middle school is a time for students to take on leadership roles and actively contribute to the school community. Student council, reading buddies with younger classrooms, student-led volunteer projects and more help our middle schoolers become responsible, confident and compassionate.

Middle schoolers face unique challenges, and our staff is dedicated to providing personalized support. Our small class sizes allow for getting to know students and learning how to get them each to become their best.

Students in grades 6th through 8th are part of our House System, where they are grouped into one of three houses: Faith, Kindness, and Fortitude. Each week, students meet within their houses to build community, take part in team challenges, and engage in meaningful discussions. Together, they help shape their house identity by choosing mascots and designing custom house t-shirts.
Throughout the year, students earn points for their house through academics, acts of kindness, leadership, and positive behavior. At the end of each month, the house with the most points enjoys a reward—often a fun celebration like a potluck lunch. The House System fosters school spirit, teamwork, and leadership while encouraging students to live out our core values every day.

Our science curriculum, guided by the Nebraska State Standards and the Archdiocese of Omaha Science Standards, provides students with a rich and developmentally appropriate education that inspires curiosity and a love of learning. We use Bring Science Alive! by Teachers Curriculum Institute (TCI), a dynamic middle school curriculum fully aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Building on foundational skills from elementary school, Bring Science Alive! encourages deeper scientific inquiry across three key areas: Life Science, Earth Science and Physical Science. Through hands-on investigations, interactive lessons and real-world applications, students are empowered to think critically, ask thoughtful questions and engage deeply with scientific concepts. This approach not only strengthens their knowledge but also fosters collaboration, creativity and a meaningful understanding of how science impacts the world around them.
Many of our middle schoolers have been at Our Lady of Lourdes since their earliest school days, but we love the chance to welcome new families, too. If you’re thinking about a change for your child’s middle school experience, we invite you to explore how choosing our school could help your child succeed. Switching schools is a big decision, and we’re here to help make it a smooth transition.
