Building Confidence and Connection from Day One

Beginning in first grade, OLL students have so many opportunities to get involved through clubs, activities, athletics and service projects. Participating in activities like this during or after school means children can build additional friendships and discover more about themselves and their unique gifts.

Sample of Opportunities

  • Music in Catholic Schools

OLL students in grades 5-8 are eligible to participate in the Archdiocese of Omaha Music in Catholic Schools (MCS) program. MCS provides instrumental band instruction, with concerts throughout the year. Your child will also take music classes weekly.

  • Service Projects & Social Outreach
    • Consortium-Wide Service Project: A Day Without Shoes: Started at Our Lady of Lourdes, this service project has now grown to the other 5 Consortium schools. Students and families come together each year to support our local community through a school-wide shoe drive. By donating new or gently used shoes, we help provide essential footwear to those in need. This project not only meets a practical need, but also teaches students the importance of generosity, empathy, and serving others with dignity.
    • 8th Grade Service Day: Our 8th grade students and faculty dedicate a full day to service at the Heart Ministry Center, working together to support those in need. From 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, students take part in meaningful activities such as bagging food and assisting with community outreach—an impactful experience that fosters compassion, teamwork, and social responsibility.
  • Clubs & Ways to Get Involved
    • Junior High Choir: OLL students in 6th-8th grade have the opportunity to Students in grades 6–8 at OLL have the opportunity to join the choir, which performs regularly at school Masses and brings holiday cheer through Christmas caroling at local retirement homes and community events.
    • Student Ambassadors: Junior high students apply and are selected for this role if seen as positive leaders. They help with many school events including the annual Fall festival, pumpkin party and annual canned food drive to the Bellevue Food Bank. They also assemble and deliver gift baskets to elderly neighbors, design school spirit shirts, assist and attend the Hopeful Hearts dinner with parishioners, as well as organize and assist our Consortium-wide service project Day Without Shoes.
    • Book Bowl: The Our Lady of Lourdes Book Bowl is a fun and enriching opportunity for our 6th and 8th grade students who enjoy reading and discussing books. The Book Bowl brings teams together to explore a shared list of 12 books selected for schools across the Archdiocese.  During weekly meetings, students dive into these books through thoughtful discussions and by creating quiz questions to challenge each other. These sessions help students prepare for the annual Archdiocesan Book Bowl competition, held every February.  More than just a contest, the Book Bowl encourages a love of reading, builds teamwork, and strengthens critical thinking. It’s a great way for students to grow academically while celebrating their passion for literature in a fun and supportive environment.
